Love in the Time of Cholera
I love vacation because I read/finish books. I finally finished this monster. And it was as satisfying as the fake-cholera-ridden river ride that ends the book. Sunny says she likes it because it's so extreme. Who on earth loves like that?
Sarah, thank you for the Valentine's Day card. It was a pleasant surprise, and the only one I received this year. We are indeed both romantic idealists, and I am told how annoying that worldview is to people who neither share it nor wish to.
In other news, the U.S. economy is in the midst of collapse and I again am in a position of having to make difficult budget decisions that impact staff. This wears on the soul.
Consequently, I have offered downgrading my own position to half-time status, mostly for selfish reasons. Maybe I could work on that book I've been meaning to write. (Can I get a benefactor - or at least a sugar daddy?)
Or maybe I could use the time to practice the guitar and violin.
Or to cook a decent meal at home. (Can I get cancer from a daily diet of microwave dinners?)
Not that it matters. I highly doubt they will accept my oh-so-generous offer.

Hi Su'Jn! Hope you're doing well... We should hang out soon. I wish I could find a way to pay the bills working only 1/2 time... I'd do it for sure.
Geoff
you're most welcome. here's to annoying the world with our love of love and ideals! meanwhile, figuring out the job budget stuff sounds very ... unideal. good luck.
oh i do think it is a generous offer to give up 1/2 your salary. i mean i know you get something out of it-- namely more time to do the things you love and hope to do, but it also says a great deal about your leadership and i think leading by example is one of the most powerful models a leader can embark on...
sorry to hear about the weariness... my thoughts are with you.
