long live our souls' deepest imaginations
a friend and i visited the grand re-opening of Seattle Art Museum this afternoon. not crazy enough to go in the middle of the night (the re-opening marathon lasts for 35 hours straight), we went at a decent hour: 2 p.m.
if you go, be sure to check out:
1) "flower ball" and (something about) "...red-eyed..." in the japanese pop art section. (they're right next to each other and pictured above).
2) "some/one" (pictured left)
3) mark tobey's work
4) a work made out of tin cans & bottles in the african art section (on the left immediately before entering the special installations gallery)
after an hour, i thought my brain was going to explode. much of what i saw felt so powerful and remarkable, and i could no longer wrap my head around it all. i had to leave and save the rest of the collection for another time. fortunately, there is a gelato shop a mere block away, and sanity returned after a tasty treat.
