to weep in the presence of good and evil

i'm in Saigon now - otherwise known as Ho Chi Minh City. there is a painful history in this country. war, unrest, shifting alliances. this is a country recovering from assault and grief. more on this after i return from Cambodia.

i've been enjoying books on my vacation. so far i've read: The Memory Keeper's Daughter, The Namesake, The Killing Fields. now i'm reading a book on Seattle Chinatown's history. i've also been doing a few crossword puzzles a day, my favorite form of relaxation (next to massages!). i'm so appreciative of this time to curl up with books. i'm in restoration mode.
