a flash of hope

From the most recent Moth podcast: "There exists in the human heart the propensity to hope."

There's another line in there about the scaffolding we put around a miraculous experience, which is forever hollow afterwards. To me, that's like when I take pictures on hikes or of sunsets. I've pretty much stopped trying.
