what i learned during this sabbatical
1) I don't hate Korea. I don't love it either.
2) I love to travel. There's a lot to see in this world. Heck, there's a lot to see just in Seoul.
3) I'm capable of trekking in pouring rain in the jungle.
4) Explaining the U.S. to foreigners helps me articulate what I think about it.
5) I'm more interested in U.S. politics when I'm not in it.
6) I miss quiet open spaces.
7) Actually, I miss quiet.
8) I like to read - and rarely do it outside of traveling. Okay, so that means I love to read while traveling.
9) Podcasts are a wonderful invention.
10) Skype also rocks.
11) Korean food is just okay, and is intolerable if eaten on a daily basis.
12) I want to marry a soulmate.
13) I have not been dating one. (I care about him nonetheless).
14) I'm still Christian - just not practicing (Whatever that means).
15) Singing always lifts my mood. (I will miss 노래방s big-time).
16) I miss hanging out with friends. Also, I think my heart is permanently bruised from missing my kitties.
17) Korean fashion is mostly hard on the (my) eyes, even though it's becoming globally popular. Everything has decals, rhinestones, chains, ruffles, and/or flouncy layers. Necklines go to the top of the neck; hemlines go to the top of the thighs.
18) Korean restaurant service is 빠리빠리 (hurry, hurry). That's good if you're in a rush; that's bad if you want to have a leisurely meal.
19) Facebook is eerily convenient for keeping in touch with friends and sharing one's adventures.
20) I'm not really into blogging anymore.
I come home in 19 days. Yay.
