bare un-neccessities
i woke up this morning and realized i really needed a change of scenery. so i logged onto my hostel booking site and found a room at Urban Hideaway Guesthouse, right in the middle of downtown Vancouver BC. a lovely surprise (one never knows what one'll get with these little indy backpacker guesthouses you find online) - and there's a beautiful garden right outside my room window! tres bien!!
i spent the afternoon walking around downtown, indulging in urban hiking and retail therapy ("eye shopping" as my mom calls it). dinner was rabogi (ramen and duk boki) at a little korean joint around the corner. now i'm watching "the fountain" in my room on a real-sized t.v. with a real dvd player (a nice change from watching dvds on my laptop). this is another mind-bending film by the guy who did "requiem for a dream" and "pi". a friend mentioned it recently on his blog, and so i am intrigued.
it's quite a bit hard to follow, but probably more so because i'm writing a blog post ;-p.
